What's new in Las Vegas? Hotels, bars, shows

Here's the lowdown on the latest on the Strip and elsewhere in Sin City:

  • Fans of professional bull riding know that the Professional Bull Riders' finals are always a draw in Vegas (they start next Wednesday). But many may not know that a PBR Rock Bar and Grill just opened at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. It's the first bar and grill associated with the bull riders. You can chug a beer in eight seconds (the amount of time a rider must stay on a bucking bull for a clean ride) or try your luck on a mechanical toro.
  • Sexy shows are hot, hot, hot, hot, and a powerhouse singer called Lorena Peril (shown below) is dangerously sultry. She just stepped in to headline the topless revue "FANTASY" at the Luxor. Of Middle Eastern and Latin descent, she has been compared to Christina Aguilera. The nightly 10:30 p.m. show includes a caliente salsa and many doffed tops. Not hers, however.
  • Some Harrah's properties have launched a program called "PetStay Las Vegas" that welcomes pooches with canine-friendly rooms and treats, as well as outdoor "relief areas." Caesars Palace, Imperial Palace and Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino are participating. Guests with dogs 50 pounds and under get a room with food and water dishes, disposable waste bags and dog treats. Doggy meals are available from room service. Crates can be rented for use when the owner is out of the room. (Please don't put me next to a barking hound, front desk!) You get the special rooms for $25 a night more at Caesars, $20 at Imperial Palace and Rio.
