Ocean Nutrition Canada (ONC) supplier of the most trusted source of Omega-3, EPA/DHA, food and dietary supplement ingredients, announces today the acquisition of the exclusive global marketing and distribution rights to GAT Food Essentials (GAT) Omega-3 microencapsulation-emulsion technology.

As a result of the agreement, ONC acquired the rights to exclusive use of GAT's unique and patented "wowCAPS(R)" technology, in the Omega-3 space. In addition, ONC acquired all GAT's existing, global Omega-3 customer base which includes customers in Australia, Europe, North America, and South America. With this acquisition, ONC strengthens its position as the world's largest Omega-3 EPA/DHA solutions provider to the food, beverage and dietary supplement markets.

With proven success in over 40 different applications from milk to baby food, from cooking oil to peanut butter and from bread to cookies, no one matches ONC's Omega 3 food applications capabilities, and GAT's microencapsulation-emulsion technology will allow ONC to further expand its range of applications.

The food companies currently using GAT's "wowCAPS(R)" technology for Omega 3 will now benefit from using ONC's MEG-3(R) fish oil, the most trusted source of Omega-3 EPA and DHA, while using the same proven microencapsulation-emulsion technology they have been using in the past. In addition, these companies will benefit from ONC's turn-key marketing support and capabilities.

"We are very pleased to be bringing our technology and expertise to the Omega-3 market leader. We believe that ONC, because of its world-wide reach and best in class marketing, is the ideal partner to expand the adoption of this technology by the major food companies of the world as they develop and launch Omega-3 enriched products." said Miguel Gimeno, Co-CEO of GAT Food Essentials.
